We primarily know Parrot as a purveyor of all things Bluetooth, but now the French company is segueing into remote controlled devices. The Parrot AR.Drone is a quadricopter – i.e. a four-propellor helicopter – that’s packed with WiFi for remote-control from an iPhone or iPod touch, two video cameras (one for auto-pilot, another for streaming birds-eye footage back to the pilot) and various sensors and gyroscopes. Parrot are also releasing an SDK so that developers can create games and other software such as augmented reality (AR).

Oddly enough, this new gadget comes surprisingly close to my day job. For the sake of a sensitive audience, I’ll describe the Remote Control Rabbit as a “discrete intimate massager” and leave the rest up to your imaginations. Anyway, what distinguishes this particular column of latex rubber is the handy remote control, which lets you stand 25ft away should you not particularly want to get close to a partner when, ahem, “intimately massaging”.

I will admit that I am jealous of the huge internet connection speeds that some of you that live in larger cities with connection options like Verizon FiOS can get. I am stuck in a digital backwater where 750Kbps DSL is as fast as it gets. FiOS isn’t only about blazing internet speeds; the service also has TV programming. If you are a FiOS subscriber and use a Motorola DROID or the HTC Imagio, you can now control your TV directly from your phone.

Home lighting isn’t something you’ll regularly find on the SlashGear frontpage, but when that lighting is capable of thousands of colors and comes with a remote control, that’s when the geeks start paying attention. Philips’ LivingColors range has been around for a few years now, but the Generation 2 models promise 50-percent more light for an altogether more usable lamp. Check out our full review plus a video demo after the cut.
